Hafzoo takes off

For our areal photography we decided to try out various techniques of shooting and took off in a range of aircrafts and helicopters that suited the task. Our main aircraft a Diamond DA40 propeller plane had a Garmin G1000 state of the art glass cockpit, which we featured as a prop in the film and allowed beautiful travelling shots in the air. For hovering moves lower to the ground we opted for a small R44 Helicopter, which was cost effective, could land on the water and did not cause too much down-wind into the scenes. Air-to-Air filming was done from a Cessna C-182 also used for parachuting. It could open the hatch on the side and travel fairly slow to shoot fly-by’s and the odd wing-over. All together amazing fun and a great insight into filming in the air and airport rules.
